Powder molding method-Isostatic Pressing

The isostatic pressing molding method applies isotropic pressure to the powder and molds it while compressing it. Therefore, the model must be made of appropriate elastic materials so that the fluid pressure can act uniformly on the surface of the model, so it is called hydrostatic molding or isostatic molding. There are two types of hydrostatic molding: wet and dry.

In the wet type, the powder is sealed in a molded rubber mold, placed in a liquid in a high-pressure vessel, and is molded by applying isotropic hydraulic pressure. Dry type has two layers of rubber mold. The molded rubber mold is not in direct contact with the liquid. The pressurized rubber mold is installed inside the high-pressure container to seal the liquid. The pressure medium can be water, oil, 30% boric acid aqueous solution, glycerin and silicone oil.

In the elastic rubber mold, it is put into the high-pressure cylinder after sealing, and the green body is compressed and formed by liquid transfer.
