Isostatic pressing, also known as hydrostatic pressing, is a molding method that utilizes the incompressibility of liquid media and the uniform transmission of pressure. That is to say, the pressure on the sample in the high-pressure container is the same as that in the still water at the same depth, so it is called hydrostatic pressure or isostatic pressure. The molding process obtained according to this principle is called hydrostatic pressing or isostatic pressing.

The cold isostatic press is to place the material in a sealed and elastic mold into a container containing liquid or gas, and apply a certain pressure with liquid or gas to press the material into a solid body to obtain the original shape of the blank body. After the pressure is released, the mold is taken out from the container, and after demoulding, the green body is further shaped as required.

Dry isostatic pressing is relative, that is, the mold is not all in the high-pressure liquid medium, but semi-stationary, so the addition of blanks and the removal of blanks are all operated in a dry state. Dry isostatic pressing is quasi-isostatic pressing, and its molded bag can be made of nitrile rubber or ether urethane. When the dry mold bag is pressed and clamped by the upper and lower punches, the high-pressure liquid is input to the surrounding of the dry mold bag, so that the ceramic powder is shaped by uniform pressure. The dry isostatic press can be made into an automatic continuous press, suitable for mass production.
