Isostatic pressing technology refers to placing the sample powder to be pressed in a high-pressure container, using the incompressible properties of liquid or gas medium and the property of uniform pressure transmission to uniformly pressurize the sample from all directions, when liquid or gas When the medium is injected into the pressure vessel through the pressure pump, according to the principle of fluid mechanics, its pressure is constant and uniformly transmitted to all directions. At this time, the pressure on the powder in the high-pressure container is uniform and consistent in all directions.

The method of forming barren powder into a compact body by the above method is called isostatic pressing. Isostatic pressed products have the characteristics of "isotropy", and the characteristics of the material have nothing to do with the size, shape and sampling direction.

The cold isostatic pressing technology is at room temperature, usually using rubber or plastic as the jacket mold material, and using liquid (such as water or oil or ethylene glycol mixed liquid) as the pressure medium. The general working pressure is 100~630MPa. For metals, cold isostatic pressing technology can achieve about 100% of theoretical density, and ceramic powder can achieve about 95% of theoretical density. It is mainly used for molding powder materials, and provides blanks for further sintering or hot isostatic pressing processes.

At present, cold isostatic pressing technology is widely used in various fields such as daily-use ceramics, architectural ceramics, and special ceramics. Such as discs, dishes, alumina grinding balls, alumina chemical filler balls, refractory bricks, ceramic sticks, spark plugs, high-frequency porcelain sleeves, composite ceramics, etc.
