Various special refractory products are formed on the isostatic press. This molding method is also called dry molding. Use an isostatic press to form oxide ceramic products, such as large furnace tubes, crucibles, high-pressure sodium tubes, spark plugs, grinding media balls and linings. Ceramic powders are powders that have been processed by batching and wet grinding, and then can be formed on an isostatic press after spray drying and granulation. However, when forming special refractory products such as intrusive nozzles for steelmaking, integral stoppers, and integral tapping holes, ingredients with low moisture or low binder (liquid) can be used for molding.

Forming large-scale special refractory products on an isostatic press requires a special elastor mold. There are basically 3 types of rubber molds, rubber molds for pressing spherical products. When designing rubber molds, the scaling rate should be considered. Generally, the scaling rate is 30% to 40%. The main factors affecting the scaling rate are the compression ratio caused by the molding pressure; the firing shrinkage of various raw materials and the margin of cold processing of the product.
