Cold isostatic pressing is to place the material in the sealed and elastic mold in a container containing liquid or gas, apply a certain pressure to it with liquid or gas, press the material into a solid, and obtain the original shape of the body. After the pressure is released, the mold is removed from the container, and after the mold is removed, the billet is further reshaped as required.

Cold isostatic pressing can be divided into two types: wet bag cold isostatic pressing and dry bag cold isostatic pressing.

(1) Wet bag cold isostatic pressing. It is composed of elastic mold, high pressure container, top cover and frame. This method suspends the mold in liquid, also known as floating mold method. Several molds can be placed in the high-pressure vessel at the same time.

(2) Dry bag cold isostatic pressing. It is composed of pressure punch, high pressure vessel, elastic die, stopper, top brick and so on. This method fixes the elastic mold in a high-pressure vessel and locates it with a stopper, so it is also called the fixed mold method. During operation, lift the punch to load the powder into the mold, and close the upper mouth with the pressure punch after loading the material. When pressurizing, the liquid medium is injected between the inner wall of the cylinder and the outer surface of the mold, and uniform pressure is applied to all directions of the mold at the same time. The ejector is used to push the blank out of the mold.
