Cold isostatic pressing technology is the technology to achieve isostatic pressing at room temperature, usually with rubber or plastic as the mold material, with liquid or elastomer (plastic, rubber) as the pressure medium, the pressure can reach 600MPa. Cold isostatic pressing technology overcomes the disadvantages of ordinary molding technology, such as shape distortion, so that the cold isostatic pressing of the compact density is high and uniform, the shrinkage is small, and the shape is easy to control, and its application range has been expanded from refractory metals and cemented carbide to other powder metallurgy fields. Because the size of the forming compact by cold isostatic pressing process is only limited by the size of the inner cavity of the high pressure cylinder, it does not need to be controlled by the total pressure of the ordinary die press, so the cold isostatic pressing technology can be used to form a large size compact. Using cold isostatic pressing technology, complex shapes can be formed by forming a mold cavity with a plastic envelope or a rigid mold.
Application in powder metallurgy
Cold isostatic pressing technology is widely used to make carbide rolls with large size, complex shape and strict performance requirements, artificial diamond hammer, carbide cutting tools and so on.
