The forming process of tungsten target is usually made by cold isostatic pressing. During the sintering process, tungsten grains will grow and fill the gap between grain boundaries, thus improving the density of tungsten target. With the increase of sintering times, the increase of tungsten target density slows down gradually. The main reason is that the mass of the tungsten target has not changed much after multiple sintering. Since most of the voids in the grain boundaries are filled by tungsten crystals, the overall size change rate of the tungsten target has been very small after each sintering, resulting in limited space for the density improvement of the tungsten target. As sintering progresses, larger tungsten grains fill the voids, resulting in higher densification of smaller size targets.


At the same sintering temperature, with the extension of sintering holding time, the densification of tungsten target is improved correspondingly; with the extension of holding time, the tungsten grain size increases, and with the extension of holding time, the growth ratio of grain size gradually slows down, which indicates that the improvement of holding time can also improve the performance of tungsten target.


In order to improve the density of tungsten target material and obtain the structure of tungsten target, the medium temperature rolling of tungsten target must be carried out below the recrystallization temperature. When the rolling temperature of the target is high, the fiber structure of the target is thicker, whereas the fiber structure of the target is finer. When the processing rate of warm rolling is above 95%. Although the original sintered grain is different or due to the different rolling temperature caused by the difference in the fiber structure will be eliminated, the internal structure of the target formed a more uniform fiber structure, so the higher the processing rate of warm rolling, the better the performance of the target.
