When components are consolidated from metal powders by isostatic pressing, substantial shape changes occur. Even though the pressure applied in cold isostatic pressing is in isostatic manner, various phenomena conspire to impose change in shape. It was observed that end portion of the compact appears to be larger in diameter than middle portion this is commonly called Elephant foot.
