The Concept, Application and Characteristics of cold Isostatic Pressing
What is cold isostatic pressing?
Cold Isostatic Pressing is a materials processing technique in which high pressure is applied to metal powder in a sealed elastomer container shaped for the application. The powder is converted from a loose aggregate into a partially dense compact that has sufficient green strength to permit careful handling and transfer to the following process operation. Cold Isostatic Poressing products have homogeneity and accuracy but no orientation.
Applications
• Cemented carbides
• Refractories
• Isotropic graphite
• Ceramics
• Metals
• Plastics
Features of CIP
Homogeneity
• Due to isostatic pressure, it has a constant density than other molding methods
Densiy
• Since there are no bridge formation and pressure less, high density molding is available.
Molding
• Large / complex / long products molding is available.
Processing
•Accurate process due to high density molding
Productivity
• Decrease of addictives by high density molding enable automatic system.
